FOOTBALL NEWS: LIGUE 1 CANCELLED OVER FEARS OF CORONAVIRUS

The 2019-20 Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 seasons were brought to a sudden end due to the coronavirus pandemic on Tuesday. French prime minister Edouard Philippe announced in a speech to the National Assembly that professional football will not be able to resume before September. That means the 2019-20 campaign is over, with the next domestic fixtures coming at the start of the 2020-21 season. No announcement was made with regards to what it means for the titles, European places or relegation and promotion, with the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) expected to make a decision during their next meeting in May.

GFA SET ONLINE DATE WITH CLUBS IN GHANA TO DISCUSS COVID-19, FOOTBALL AND OTHER MATTERS

The Ghana Football Association is set to begin an online engagement with football clubs in Ghana. President Kurt E.S Okraku and the Executive Council seek to use the opportunity to update members on the impact of COVID-19, tackle football matters & the way forward. The meeting will take place on Zoom Cloud. Below is the schedule breakdown of how the meeting is going to take place with the clubs: The meeting schedule is as follows: 1. The President, the 5 Executive Council Representatives from Premier League, i.e. Nana Sarfo Oduro, Dr. Toni Aubynn, Kingsley Bonsu, Frederick Acheampong and George Amoako, the Premier League Committee and the Secretariat will engage Premier League clubs on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at 11am, via Zoom. 2. The President, the 3 Executive Council Representatives from Division One League, i.e. Mark Addo (Vice President), Dr. Randy Abbey, Samuel Anim Addo, the Division One League Committee and the Secretariat will engage the Division One League

ARJEN ROBBEN: FORMER BAYERN MUNICH WINGER TO MAKE U-TURN BACK TO FOOTBALL

Former Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben is considering coming out of retirement after pulling the plug on his career. The ex-winger retired from the game last summer, bringing a stellar career that saw him play for club giants like Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. "In the beginning I didn't miss football at all," he told the FC Bayern Podcast. "But then there was a phase when it tickled again and I had thoughts such as: 'Hey, maybe I would like to play a little again.’ The 36 year old won eight titles and one champions league trophy during his time at Bayern Munich.
